Hello everyone!

I just finished reviewing the audio book for Legend of the Firewalker, book #1, and it was so good! Tristan Wright gave an amazing performance. I couldn't ask for a better narrator to work with to bring my audio book vision for this story to you guys.

The Maze Runner Gets Sequel

The Maze Runner? What did I think? I liked it. The movie does have a slow start which I heard about the book, so I went into the movie with that expectation. Side note, The Legend of the Firewalker also has a slow start, so I am not complaining. ;)

The movie and novel by the same name, by James Dashner, stars Dylan O’Brien (MTV’s Teen Wolf). The premise of the story appears to be about a post-apocalyptic world in which civilization has fallen due to a virus. I say “appears to be” because there were so many unexpected twists and unanswered questions. However, by the end of the film, I had to stop the urge to immediately pick up book #2 in the series, The Scorch Trials, to find out what happens next.

Although I am more of a fan of the supernatural and not really the post-apocalyptic genre, I still enjoyed the movie. Overall, if you like action and definitely movies that make you think, you should enjoy this film. Apparently, others have as well, to the tune of $32.5 million during its opening weekend in North America. 20th Century Fox has already announced it will be making the sequel. The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials, based on the second novel in the series, has a tentative release date of September 2015.

I give The Maze Runner film 4.0 stars, based on the fact I spent more than half of the movie asking, “What the heck is going on?”  At Rottentomatoes.com, 79% have reported to have liked it.

The Legend of the Firewalker eBook is now on sale for $0.99 and the second book in the series, Drawing Bloodlines, is $3.99.

The Maze Runner Debuts This Friday!

Hello everyone!

So this Friday, The Maze Runner hits theaters and I can’t wait to see it. You may recall in previous blog posts I have mentioned that The Legend of the Firewalker has appeared in several Amazon book lists with this popular novel.

I haven’t had a chance to read the books, but I will definitely see the movie to see what The Maze Runner is all about. The movie stars Dylan O’Brien (MTV's Teen Wolf), and I can’t wait to see his performance. I am also a fan of the MTV series in which he co-stars.

The Legend of the Firewalker eBook is now on sale for $0.99 and the second book in the series, Drawing Bloodlines, is $3.99.

X-Men Movie Review & Drawing Bloodlines Now On Sale!!

Hello everyone and happy Saturday!

Before I get into my review of X-Men: Days of Future Past, Drawing Bloodlines, book #2 in the Legend of the Firewalker book series, is now on sale! I hope you guys enjoy the story and continue the adventure!

Drawing Bloodlines is on sale for $2.99 at Amazon.com and the Legend of the Firewalker, book #1 in the series, is only $0.99.

The paperback for Drawing Bloodlines will go on sale June 30th.

So, X-Men: Days of Future Past! I enjoyed the movie and love what it does for the X-Men franchise. I don't want to giveaway too much, but when it's all over, the X-Men universe will have an alternate story-line that resets everything that has happened over the course of the previous movies. So, what does this mean? It means, some of our fan favorites that have died over the span of the films will get a reboot.

I give X-Men: Days of Future Past 4.0 stars. Why just 4 stars? I wasn't thrilled with going back to the past after just visiting the 60's in X-Men: First Class (2011). Also, this movie basically stars Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) again. I am a fan of the Wolverine, but the character already stars in so many of these movies. It would be nice to give more screen time to some of the other fan favorites.

I will conclude however, by saying that the battle scenes were amazing! Check out the clip below of the opening battle scene for this movie.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Movie Review & Book # 2 Update!

Hello everyone!

Before I start my review on the Amazing Spider-Man 2, I want to say thank you to all those who have taken the time to leave a review on Amazon; I really do appreciate it! Next week, I will be releasing the first chapter in book #2 of the Legend of the Firewalker series and the first chapter is entitled "Failure".

Also, those who have signed up to the email list will receive a few extra chapters. I haven't decided on the number of chapters yet, probably chapters 1-3, but that's just one of the perks for signing up! ;)

So, on to the review! The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was entertaining and I think the following numbered list will summarize my thoughts best:

#1 The Love Story (5 Stars, and I'm an Action Movie Guy)
#2 The Parker Family (5 Stars. Aunt May aka Sally Field; Need I Say More!)
#3 Electro (5 Stars. Jamie Foxx, you are scary!)
#4 Harry Osborn (3 stars. Dare I Say It...I liked James Franco Better.)
#5 New York City (5 stars. Loved it!!)
#6 Shocking Ending (4 stars...no spoiler here.)

So overall, if you average the above and add another 3.5 stars for movie length because it was so long ( a run-time of 2 hours and 22 minutes) the Amazing Spider-Man 2 earned from me 4.4 stars.

Also, check out the new trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past that debuted with the Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie. I will definitely be watching it when it hits theaters on May 23, 2014.

Spider-Man 2 Released Friday & The Legend of the Firewalker: Drawing Bloodlines Released June 2014!

Hello everyone!

Before I get into the movie, I want to announce that the Legend of the Firewalker: Drawing Bloodlines will be released in June 2014. I don't have an exact date yet, but I hope to have one soon. In a few weeks however, probably the week of May 12, I will be releasing sample chapters starting with chapter one of course, so stay tuned!

Also, the Legend of the Firewalker, book #1 in the series, is now on-sale until Thursday, May 1, 2014 for $1.99.

So, this Friday, the Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters and I am excited to see it. I also hear that a new trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past premiers with this movie.

According to www.rottentomatoes.com, in the Amazing Spider-Man 2, we can expect Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) to continue to struggle to find balance between being the crime-fighting web swinger and being a regular person. While trying to find a happy medium between the ordinary and the extraordinary, Peter Parker encounters a formidable new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), while facing the return of an old one, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan). In this second installment, he also comes to the realization that all his enemies have one thing in common; OsCorp.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is released this Friday, May 2, 2014.

Captain America : The Winter Soldier & The Legend of the Firewalker : Drawing Bloodlines

Hello everyone!

Happy Friday! Before I get into my review, do you want to know what book #2 in the Legend of the Firewalker series is about? I am pleased to announce that the book description for the Legend of the Firewalker : Drawing Bloodlines is now available. Please click here to read it!

Now, on to the review! Captain America: The Winter Soldier was nicely done and it's a good follow-up to the first movie. I have to admit that I own Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) on Blu-ray and it puts me to sleep every time. The Winter Soldier is much better however, and I wouldn't mind seeing it again.

There were definitely some game changers in this film, and I am curious to see how they will affect the story-line in the Avengers franchise.

The movie received a 90% favorable rating from critics on RottenTomatoes.com and 95% of the audience liked it. If you enjoy fantasy, superhero movies I highly recommend it. I give Captain America: The Winter Soldier 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Divergent and the Legend of the Firewalker Update

Hello everyone!!

Before I give my review, I know I have been away for awhile, but I'm back! I took some time away to concentrate on getting book #2 in the Legend of the Firewalker series ready for you guys. I am really excited about the second book. The story takes place shortly after the first book ended and it spans over a period of only 3 days! A lot can happen in 72 hours. Over the next couple of weeks stay tuned for more about book #2, the release date, sample chapters and more!

Now, on to the review. I loved it! I didn't know what to expect because I hadn't read the book, so this was my first introduction to the series. Right away I could connect with the main character Tris played by actress Shailene Woodley.  I mean, who wants to be forced to fit into anywhere?

I give the movie 5 stars and I think it would have been a great summer movie. Rotten tomatoes currently rates this movie at 5.4 out of 10 on the Tomatoreader, but the audience gave it a 80% favorable rating. I think a favorable rating at 80% is more accurate. In its 14th day of release, the movie broke the $100 million sales mark in the United States and I think that's saying something.

My initial thoughts about the movie were so-so and that I probably wouldn't like it. Let's just say for me, a lot of the scenes that were meant to be suspenseful were. They actually made my hands sweat!

The Legend of Hercules Review & Thor Gets Early Digital Release!

Hello everyone,

I know the Legend of Hercules was released a while ago, January 10, 2014 to be exact, but I figured I would go ahead and give my two cents on the movie.

The story-line for the Legend of Hercules started out strong and visually the effects were reminiscent of the movie 300. However, by the middle of the film, it fell apart for me. There were several opportunities while fighting in the arena to really explore or develop Hercules's character, but it missed the mark. The brotherhood or bond that was supposedly forged with Sotiris, actor Liam McIntyre, seemed artificial or forced. The Legend of Hercules had a run time of 99 minutes and I would have gladly sat in the theater a little while longer in exchange for more authenticity.

I did notice the enthusiasm from the women in the audience as they cheered on Hercules, actor Kellan Lutz. I don’t know if they were just die-hard Twilight fans, but it was obvious they enjoyed the movie more than I did. Also, I would like to note that Lutz reminded me a lot of Chris Hemsworth in this movie. I guess the blonde hair and similarities in build made them interchangeable…minus the long hair of course.

Overall, I give the Legend of Hercules 2 out of 5 stars.

Thor: The Dark World received an early digital release and is now available for download through Apple iTunes. In another review, I gave Thor: The Dark World 4 out of 5 stars.

I, Frankenstein Movie Review...

Hello everyone and happy Sunday!

I saw the trailer for I, Frankenstein and immediately thought two things:

1) There is really nothing else out at the movie theaters for us action-superhero-movie fans besides The Legend of Hercules

2) And both will probably only be good enough to fill the action-superhero-movie void in my life until the next movie that I actually want to see comes out.

Let’s just say I, Frankenstein did not let me down in that respect. If you are looking for a movie to fill that fantasy movie void with no expectation for a real story/plot then this fits the bill.

I, Frankenstein, released Friday, January 24, 2014, is your typical smash and bash movie that you can watch for pure entertainment purposes only; meaning no in-depth thinking or emotional connection with the characters required.

I give it 2.5 out of 5 stars and if you are not an action-movie junkie, wait for it to arrive to Netflix or the Redbox.

Legend of the Firewalker Characters....Who is Nathan, Lafonda, and Malick for You??

Hello everyone!

Taylor Lautner            Tyler Posey
I thought I would share with you today some of the feedback I have received in regards to what people are saying characters look like and/or what actor or actress could play that character. The three characters I get told about the most are Nathan, Lafonda, and Malick.

So without further ado, while reading, people imagine Nathan Urye to look like either Taylor Lautner or Tyler Posey. Taylor Lautner is most known for his work in the Twilight franchise and Taylor Posey for MTV’s Teen Wolf.
    Kylie Bunbury        Katerina Graham

I am also told that if The Legend of the Firewalker was made into a movie, the role of Lafonda Devaro could be played by either Katerina Graham or Kylie Bunbury. Katerina Graham is known for her role as best friend Bonnie on the CW’s The Vampire Diaries and Kylie Bunbury for her work on the ABC Family television show Twisted.

 Sean Faris          Scott Eastwood
And finally, I have been told many times that Sean Faris would make a great Stephen Malick and just recently, I’ve been hearing about Scott Eastwood. Sean Faris starred in the 2008 movies, Never Back Down and Forever Strong and Scott Eastwood is the son of Dirty Harry star Client Eastwood.

If in your mind the character looks like someone else or if you think some other actor or actress could play that character on the silver screen, please let me know by leaving a comment below. You can also participate in the Who Could Play Who Poll on the left.

Tell me, who is Lafonda, Malick, Nathan or some other character for you??

Tips for Those Tinkering Around With the Idea of Writing

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a great time over the holidays and that your pocketbooks are recovering nicely!

I enjoyed spending time with family and friends and after many conversations, I discovered there are a lot of would be writers out there. I received good feedback about The Legend of the Firewalker and I was surprised by how many family and friends have actually read the book…yay! Usually after answering questions about the series and what’s next for the characters, the most commonly asked question I got asked was for tips for those tinkering around with the idea of writing.

I am no authority on this subject; however, having just published my first novel and soon to be releasing my second, the best advice that I can give is to write. The more you write the better you become and during that time a wonderful thing will happen; you will discover your voice!

I encourage those who write or that "tinker" around with writing to finish those short stories or book ideas that are piling up on your computer. Finish those stories from beginning to end and you will discover your voice or writing style. You will discover over time that you spend less time thinking about your writing skills and more time on telling a good story.

Another tip, write what you like! If you love books that are fast-paced and descriptive then write that. If you like books in which the main character or characters don’t escape peril easily then write stories that reflect that. Write for you first and for that audience that enjoys the same things that you do.

Stephen King explained during a lecture at Yale that if you read enough, there’s this magic moment which will always come to you if you want to be a writer. It’s the moment when you put down some book and say, "This really sucks...I can do better than this..."

And then I say, go ahead and do better and write!

Best wishes and have a fantastic 2014!!
